Our Story

Mercer 79 began with a ring found in a drawer - one I have not taken off since.

The ring that started it

A gold signet ring, engraved with the initials SG. The ring belonged to my partner's uncle, worn every day for decades before it was passed down to my partner. It wasn't his style, so it went into a drawer, until I came across it when we moved house.

I looked at it properly for the first time, and noticed something that stopped me: the initials engraved into the gold were the same as my children's. I put it on. I haven't taken it off since.

Made by hand, in the UK

I worked with a goldsmith to recreate the ring as closely as possible, with one change: instead of an engraved initial, the initial is set in diamonds, raised slightly from the surface. That piece became No. 1, the Oval Signet Ring with Diamond Initial.

The ring that inspired this brand is forty years old, and still worn every day. That's the standard I hold every piece to: not something to keep for best, but something crafted to be worn - every day, for decades.
